Laura Ann Champney of Brockton, Ma, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018, surrounded by her loved ones. Laura was born to Phyllis Jean Palmer (nee Cooper) and George Richard Champney on March 11, 1960, in Concord, New Hampshire. Laura was a graduate of Stoughton High School in Massachusetts.

She aspired to become a special education teacher, but sacrificed that dream when she became a mother. She raised six children and considered being a single mother her greatest accomplishment. She enjoyed caring for others and was affectionately called “Ma” by her children’s friends and those who lived in her neighborhood.

Her door was always open to those in need. She was an avid animal lover and never hesitated to take in a stray or find them an appropriate home. She enjoyed watching movies, listening to music, singing, dancing, and spending time with her family and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Kurt Champney, her step sister Laura Diane Winkler, and her loving partner Robert G. Callahan. She is survived by her children; Kimberly Khang-Vasquez, Joshua Champney, Richard Blomgren, Charles Blomgren, Jessica Champney, Robert Champney, and 10 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Temple Baptist Church, 540 Manley St. in West Bridgewater, Ma on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. All are welcome to attend.
