Mrs. Laverne’s Obituary Laverne the daughter of the late Nelson Peterson and the late Josephine White Peterson Cobb and Stepfather Ernest Cobb, was born on May 13, 1953 in Holly Hill, South Carolina. Laverne grew up in Holly Hill, South Carolina and at the age of eight, she became a member of Briner Christian Church. Later in life she received the gift of the Holy Ghost under the leadership of the late Bishop Joseph Brooks.

After his death she was blessed with a new leader, Pastor District Elder Harold Young. Laverne received her education in the Holly Hill Public schools and graduated from Roberts High School in 1971. Laverne married Sammie Lambright December 17, 1975 and from this union she had two children; Sedrick R. Lambright and Jamar O. Lambright, whom she loved, cherished and adored.

Laverne served as Vice President of the Adult Choir Chaplin, the local Missionary Department and the kitchen committee. She loved her church. She sang on the choir and her favorite songs were “I Owe God A Praise” and “I Praise Him Because I Love Him”.

Her angelic voice ministered to her very soul and kept her closely in fellowship with God. On November 20, 2018, a devoted and caring wife, mother, daughter, and sister departed this life. She will be sadly missed.

She was preceded in death by her father, Nelson Peterson, mother Josephine White Peterson Cobbs, stepfather Ernest Cobbs, son Sedrick R. Lambright and sisters; Loretta Williams and Almena Cobbs. Laverne leaves her cherished memories with her husband, Sammie Lambright, a son Jamar O. Lambright, two sisters; Bertha Mae Cobbs and Vanessa (Richard) Johnson, one Aunt, Lue Ida Cobb; sisters-in-law; Josephine (Josh) Holman, Rosalyn Nicholson, Peggy (Bollie) Brown, Vallie Bennett, Annie (Tom) Profit, Donna Lambright, Shonda Lambright; brothers-in-law Willie (Shirley) Lambright, James (Jeanette) Lambright, O’Neal (Alicia) Lambright, Reather (James) Richburg and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Friends may call at the residence, 139 Jupiter Court, Holly Hill and at the funeral home.
