Lawrence’s Obituary Mr. Lawrence J. Weitkamp, 80, of Troy, MO, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2019. He was born on August 8, 1938 in Moscow Mills, MO to August and Rose (Krienbaumn) Weitkamp. Lawrence was the second oldest child and had five siblings.

The family lived on a farm and he helped his father with the many chores. After graduation from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard and served for 6 years. It was during this time that he met his soulmate, Joyce Cody.

They were joined in holy matrimony on May 14, 1960 at St.Patrick’s Catholic Church in University City. To this union were born three children: MaryDena, Paul and David. Lawrence and his friends built the family home in 1968.

He worked at McDonnell-Douglas, now Boeing, retiring after 35 years of dedicated work. Some of his pastimes included, fishing, hunting and woodcarving. After retiring, the couple took their travel trailer and went to Texas and many other states.

His No. 1 priority was his family and his belief in God. Lawrence was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Troy.

Surviving are his devoted and loving wife of over 58 years of marriage, Joyce Weitkamp of Troy; his two sons: Paul (Meredith) Weitkamp of Eolia and David (Sarah) Weitkamp of Troy; his six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his two siblings: Victor Weitkamp of Wentzville and Mary Lou Edgar of Troy; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, MaryDena Ierardi, his granddaughter, Ashley and his three siblings: Donald Weitkamp, Steve Cawthorn and Roberta Waren.

Visitation scheduled from 4-8p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019 at the McCoy-Blossom Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1304 Boone St., Troy, MO 63379 (636) 528-8244. Funeral Mass scheduled at 10a.m. on Wednesday, Feb.

27, 2019 at Sacred Heart Church in Troy. Fr. Tom Wissler to officiate.
