Leepoleon’s Obituary Mr. Leepoleon Dixon, Sr., a native of Morvin, AL and a resident of Leroy, AL, was born February 14, 1932 to the parentage of the late Mr. Lonnie Dixon and the late Mrs. Nora Dixon. He departed this life March 8, 2019 in Deatsville, AL at the home of his granddaughter, Vickie Dixon. Upon “Poppa Lonnie” moving the family from Morvin to Prestwick, AL; Leepoleon was educated in the Washington County School System.
He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Prestwick. On December 4, 1954, he married the love of his life, Burcy Mae Parker Dixon, and to this union, nine children were born. Leepoleon retired from Alabama Electric Co-op (AEC) after 25 years of dedicated employment.
“Knucklehead”, as he was affectionately known to all of his grandchildren, enjoyed hunting, farming, and playing dominoes. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Lucy Dixon; two sons, Victor Rone (Dorothy) Dixon and Leepoleon “Lee” Dixon, Jr.; two brothers, James “JD” Dixon and Roosevelt Dixon, one sister and brother-in-law, Emma and Tony Davis, granddaughter, Karen Foxx; mother-in-law, Luburcy Tiggs Taylor; and a son-in-law, James Blackmon. He is survived by four sons, Jimmy Lee (Janette) Dixon and Wayne Dixon, both of Cleveland, OH; Wendall Joe Dixon of Detroit, MI; Lonnie Craig (LaKeshia) Dixon of Jackson, AL; four daughters, Connie Faye (Joseph) Jackson of Ft.
Rucker, AL; Nora Blackmon of Daleville, AL; Sonya Dixon and Tonya (Michael) Middleton, all of Woodbridge, VA; 23 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; two devoted sisters-in-law, Nellie Dixon of Chicago, IL and Nancy Franklin of Woodbridge, VA; a special friend, Dessie Treadmill; a host of nieces; one devoted, Willie Inez McConico of Leroy, AL; nephews, other relatives and friends, special friends, Lula Mae Jackson, George Rolland, Vivian (Lenora) Johnson of Mobile, AL. Viewing Friday, March 15, 2019, 4-6pm at Andrews Funeral Home; viewing Saturday, March 16, 2019, 11am until the 12 noon service at Jackson High School Auditorium, 321 Stanley Drive, Jackson, AL 36545. Following the interment service in Woodlawn Cemetery, Jackson, AL, the family will receive friends in the dining hall of Saint Union Baptist Church, 1524 Pruitt Road, Leroy, AL. 36548.
