Obituary for Lela Geraldine Rice Lela G. Rice of St. Louis, MO, formerly of the Arcadia Valley, passed away July 17, 2018 in St. Louis at the age of 87. She was born Dec. 30, 1930 near Minimum, MO, a daughter of the late Theodore and Alice Miller Brown.

On June 3, 1950 she was united in marriage to Charles Leon Rice, who preceded her in death on April 15, 1995. To this union was born a son, James Leon Rice who passed away April 8, 2014. Surviving are two Grandchildren, Andrew Rice and wife Jan of Arnold, and Jamie Rice (Kyle Aleto) of Imperial, three great grandchildren, Zealand Rice, Kane and Rori Aleto, a daughter-in-law Nancy Rice of Arnold, a sister-in-law Margaret Hennessey, two nieces Elizabeth Gersch and Pam Gillispie, three great nieces Crystal Crocker (Jeremy), Katie and Megan Gillispie, one great -great niece Kaylan Crocker and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by three brothers-in-law, Sam Rice, Edward Hennessey, and James Blanton, Two sisters-in-law Nina Rice and Alice Blanton and a nephew Kevin Rice. Lela was a graduate of Ironton High School, and a member of Arcadia Valley United Methodist Church and the Ironton Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She worked for the Ironton High School Superintendent, Brown Shoe company and after moving to St. Louis she was president of Private Brands Company and was a member of the board of the Dana Brown Trust.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 23 at 12 Noon from the Arcadia Valley United Methodist Church under the direction of Cole Family Funeral Home with Rev. Marty Blakey officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 AM.

Interment will be in Arcadia Valley Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Am. Cancer Society.
