Leona (Buck) Brooks, 72 passed away on June 28, 2018 in Holdenville, Oklahoma. Leona was born on February 24, 1946 in Holdenvile to Nathan and Alice (McCosar) Buck. She attended Spaulding Public Schools and graduated from Holdenville High School.

Leona married Herbert Alfred Brooks on August 31, 1979 in Holdenville, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Orlando, Florida where he would work for the United States Post Office as a mail handler. After his retirement, the couple… Read More » moved to Holdenville.

She began teaching piano lessons in Holdenville to many young people who wanted to learn. She worked as a cook until her retirement from Holdenville Public Schools. Leona was part of the Buck Family Gospel Singing Ministry.

She was the piano player and sang with the group Lakeside Trio that her dad, Nathan Buck started in 1962 with her sister, Margaret and her cousins Jeanette Davis and Mablene Harjo. She loved the Lord and enjoyed singing praises and playing the piano. She liked to watch sporting events and going to church.

Leona loved spending time with her family and attending her nieces and nephews school events. She is preceded in death by her parents. Nathan Buck and Alice (McCosar) Buck, husband Herbert Brooks, siblings Vernon E. Buck, Jake Buck, Raymond Buck, Buckner “Sock” Buck, Nathan “Wahoo” Buck Jr., Jeanette Buck, Otis W. L. Buck, Robert E. “Blackie” Buck, Johnson W. “Corney” Buck, and Franklin Douglas “Frankie” Buck.

Survivors include her sister Margaret Siegrist and husband Jack of Holdenville, step-daughters Michelle R. Brooks of Winter Park, Florida, brothers and sisters-in-law Linda Buck of Holdenville, Sue Buck of Holdenville, Connie Buck of Holdenville, Judy Buck of Norman, Allan Brooks and wife Cathy of Holdenville, Linda Dean and husband James of Lakeland, Florida, as well as her many nieces, nephews whom she loved dearly, cousins and other relatives and friends. Wake service is scheduled for 6:00 PM on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville. Funeral services have been scheduled for 1:30PM on Monday, July 2, 2018 at the Many Springs Baptist Church of Holdenville.

The body will be taken to the church at 10:00AM. Rev. Jimmy Anderson will officiate assisted by Rev.

Larry Factor. Pallbearers will be Chebon Buck, Jackie Siegrist Jr., Otis Buck, B. J. Buck, Mitch Buck, Lance Buck. Honorary bearers will be Bill Robinson, Leo Fish Jr., Curtis Kinney, and Stud Walton.

Interment will follow at the McCosar Family Cemetery in Holdenville. Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home of Holdenville. Online condolences can be made at www.
