Leonard’s Obituary Leonard Alton Starnes, 89, of Whitesboro, TX, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2019. He was born November 22, 1929 in Clovis, NM to James Ervin and Minnie Bea (Huitt) Starnes. Leonard married Mary Magdalene Lee on September 17, 1949 in Gainesville, TX.

He worked for Acme Brick for 22 years and also worked for Turbo Refrigeration for 25 years. Leonard was a member of the First Baptist Church of Collinsville, TX. Leonard is survived by his four sons, Dennis Starnes and wife Nita of Argyle, TX, David Starnes and wife Linda (Robin) of Duncan, OK, Daryl and wife Deon Starnes of Denton, TX, and Ramiro “Buddy” Starnes of Wink, TX; four daughters, Donna Graves and husband John of Collinsville, TX, Daphne Ellis and husband Larry of Whitewright, TX, April Ulmer and husband Terry of Howe, TX, and Mary Roberts and husband Derek of Collinsville, TX; nineteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Minnie; wife, Mary; five brothers, Jack, James, Jesse, Leroy, and William Starnes; and two sisters, Catherine Patterson and Ila Starnes. Visitation will be held 6:00PM-8:00PM, Friday, January 18, 2019 at Slay Memorial Chapel in Aubrey, TX. A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM, Saturday, January 19, 2019 at First Baptist Church in Collinsville, TX with Jerry Davis officiating.

Interment will follow at Collinsville Cemetery in Collinsville, TX. Online condolences may be shared at www. slaymemorialfuneralhome.com.
