Obituary for Lois Jean Shepherd Lois Jean Shepherd, age 86, of Richlands, Virginia entered into eternal rest on January 1, 2019 at her residence. Lois was born on December 16, 1932 in Wise County, Virginia to the late Kyle A. and Ota Short Bolling. She was a retired registered nurse, having trained in the registered nursing program at Johnston Memorial Hospital, and then having worked at the Mattie Williams Hospital in Richlands, Virginia.
Mrs. Shepherd was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Richlands, Virginia and had lived most of her life in the Richlands area. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Shepherd; and their son, David Robert Shepherd. Those left to cherish her memory include Special Friend: Rhonda Nease Sisters-in-Law: Judy C. Shepherd of Paducah, Kentucky Judy Z. Shepherd of Sellersburg, Indiana Nieces: Beverly Underwood Elizabeth Shepherd Paige Ritchie Nephews: Michael Shepherd Jeff Shepherd Scott Shepherd Also surviving are her caregivers, affectionately known as the “A-Team” by Lois Jean, Judy Stilwell, Brenda Looney, Frances Miller, Sandra Johnson, Cecilla Rose, and Ruby Addison.
The family of Lois Jean Shepherd would like to extend gratitude to Legacy Hospice, Rebecca Casey, Members of the First United Methodist Church, and her neighbors on Sycamore Lane for the compassion and assistance that they exhibited to Lois during her time of illness. Funeral services for Lois Jean Shepherd will be held at 2 PM on Friday, January 4, 2019 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia with the Reverend Rod Tkach, Bill Fiess, and Frances Miller officiating. Entombment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Claypool Hill, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Larry Worrell, Mike Bandy, R.A. Cook, Harold Helton, Eugene H. Hurst, Jr., Tom Garges, and Jody Fuller. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. James Belcher, Scotty Lawson, Cody Fuller, Caleb Fuller, Caden Fuller, and Elden Miller. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 PM until the time of the service on Friday afternoon.
