Lona’s Obituary “A mother is the one who can take the place of all others but whose place no one else can ever take” A Memorial Mass in honor of Lona LeBlanc Dore will be held on Friday, February 15, 2019 at St. Marcellus Catholic Church, 6100 Avery Island Road, New Iberia. A Rosary will be prayer at 9:30 AM and the Memorial Mass will begin at 10 AM. Lona LeBlanc Dore, 85 years old, resident of New Iberia, passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at her residence after her battle with cancer.

She was surrounded by her family. Lona retired from McIlhenny Company with 34 years. She loved working in her flower beds, helping Scott with his vegetable garden, cutting grass, cooking and Cajun music.

Most importantly she loved spending time with her grandchildren who were the love of her life. She will be sadly missed by her son Kimmy Dore, daughter Messina and husband Scott Schales, daughter Roxanne and husband Tom Grimsley and daughter in law Eleanor T. Dore; brother Curtis LeBlanc; grandchildren Stephanie Leleux, Valerie Hebert, Brittani Dore, Courtney Dore, Cedric Schales, Chelsie Schales, Dexter Landry, Trever Landry, Thomas Grimsley and Emmeline Grimsley; great grandchildren Ethan, Jack and Carter Leleux; Ella, Owen and Quinn Hebert and Kali Larson. Lona was preceded in death by her husband Willie Dore; son Randal Dore; grandson Byron Dore and her parents Paul and Edoxie LeBlanc; brother Walter LeBlanc and sister Inez Boudreaux.

The family would like to send special thanks to her caregivers and special friends – Mary Richardson, Sandi Leleux, Darlene Dooley, Lillian Dore, Shirley Derouen and many others. Thanks for the outstanding care she received from Hospice of Acadiana especially Seth, Stephanie, Jenee Segura and many more.
