Louis D. Scarpitti, of North Haven passed away September 11, 2018 at Hamden Health Care. He was the husband of the late Theresa Vollero Scarpitti. Born in Roccasicura, province of Isernia,, Italy October 2, 1921, son of the late Vincenzo and Raffaela Ciarlone Scarpitti and was a proud US Army veteran serving in WWII.

Louis was a machinist retiring from US Motors after many years. He enjoyed gardening and foraging for wild mushrooms. He is the beloved father of Mary (Lawrence) Manende and Vincent (Betsy) Scarpitti.

Brother of the late Giovanina DiFranco and Pasquale Scarpitti. Grandfather of Jennifer Scarpitti-Nelson, Catherine LaTorre, Laura Du, David Scarpitti, Kathryn Manende, and Margaret DeFilipp. Great grandfather of Maxwell and Maya Nelson, Matthew and Patrick LaTorre, Jason and Julia Scarpitti, and Alexander Du.

Louis’ family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Hamden Helathcare for the compassionate care they provided. Visiting hours will be held in the Iovanne Funeral Home, Inc. Saturday morning from 8:30-9:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Michael Church at 10.

Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital PO BOX 1000 Dept. 142 Memphis, TN 38101.
