Lucille “Lou”‘s Obituary Catlin – Lucille “Lou” Brackney, 84, of Catlin, Illinois went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 20, 2019. Lou was the oldest of two girls born to Rev. Russell “Earl” and Susie Jennie Euler Fogelsonger on August 14, 1934 in Bay City, Michigan.

She married Burton “Burt” Brackney on June 11, 1952, who preceded her in death just 9 short months ago on April 20, 2018. Burt and Lou raised three children, Roger (Joyce) Brackney of Hanover, PA; Cheryl Mayerik of Catlin, IL; and Suzanne (Craig “Skip”) Wear, also of Catlin, IL. She was “Gramma B” to six grandchildren: Ben Brackney of York, PA; David (Kerri) Brackney of Memphis, TN; Joe (Karen) Mayerik of West Chester, OH; Sarah (Scott) Ellison of Bismarck, IL; Cole (Jennifer) Wear of Catlin, IL; and Emily (David) Ruwe of Catlin, IL.

She became “Great Gramma B” to fourteen great-grandchildren: Avery, Adelyn, and Connor Brackney; Julia and Lucy Mayerik; Emma, Noah, Ava, and Bella Ellison; Eli, Evie and Liam Wear; and Zeke and Myla Ruwe. The faith she and Dad shared was the bedrock of their life together, and they were very active in the Free Methodist Church. For many years, she and Dad wintered at Light and Life Free Methodist Park in Lakeland, FL.

She was deeply devoted to her husband and to her family. She displayed her love in many ways, but mostly we will remember both her and Dad cooking for family and friends, and all the craft projects she would do with and for the grandkids. In the words of her brother-in-law, Fletch, “She was a wonderful lady…leaving a bundle of memories for all of us”.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank her caregivers who loved her like she was family: Julie Norton, Rhonda Coburn, and Ginna Bolser. Words are not enough! We take great comfort in knowing Mom is now in the presence of God, beholding His glory and reunited with loved ones who have gone on before her.

“Well done Mama, well done! ” Funeral services 10 am on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Robison Chapel, Catlin, Illinois with Joseph Mayerik and John VanValin officiating. Burial in Oakridge Cemetery, Catlin, Illinois.
