Luis Agosto Algarin, 92, of Old Bridge, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 14, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 15, 1926 to Jesus and Laura (Gonzalez) Algarin in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Luis lived in Newark, NJ before moving to Old Bridge 20 years ago.

He was employed by Hatfield Wire and Cable in Linden, NJ for 20 years. He then worked for the Newark Board of Education for over 30 years. Luis had both a spiritual and passionate relationship with God.

Luis volunteered as a Sunday school teacher, usher, and drama director at Ebenezer Church in Newark, NJ, of which he was a devoted member. Luis was currently a member of Monmouth Worship Center where he also developed a very special friendship with the congregation. He also loved a good game of dominoes.

Luis is survived by his son, Luis Algarin and his wife Gresly; two daughters, Wanda Algarin, and Sandra Algarin; a brother, Fidencio Algarin; three sisters, Gloria Reyes, Theresa Algarin, and Rosa Algarin; six grandchildren, Jared, Jasmin, Ryan, Brianna, Erika, and Evan; one great-grandchild, Jackson, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sofia (Cruz) Algarin. Visitation will be held Monday, February 18, 2019, 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and Tuesday, February 19, 2019 from 9:00am to 10:30am at the Monmouth Worship Center, Marlboro, NJ.

A wake service will be celebrated on Monday, February 18, 2018 at 6:30pm at the Monmouth Worship Center, Marlboro, NJ, with Pastor Kenneth Jasko officiating. Interment will take place in the Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield, NJ. Online condolences can be given at www.
