Lynn Morrill Hardy, 97, formerly of Vernal, UT, passed away from causes relative to age on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at her daughter’s home in Spring, TX. Lynn was born October 14, 1920 in Tridell, UT, to Horace LeRoy and Clara Elizabeth Bartlett Morrill. She was the third of eleven children.
Lynn attended school in Tridell and then attended and graduated from Alterra High School in Bennett, UT. She also attended and graduated from BYU Business College in Provo, UT. She married Norwood Hardy, October 16, 1942, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
They have four children. They lived in several places during the early years of their marriage and in1961 returned to and settled permanently in Maeser (Vernal), UT. They were members of Maeser First and Second LDS Wards and after Norwood’s passing, Lynn became a member of the newly created (1998) Maeser 5th Ward where she remained until 1999 when she moved to Kaysville, UT to live with her son, Lary.
In 2012 she moved to Pleasant Grove, UT, to live with her son, Louis. In 2014 she moved to Spring, TX to live with her daughter, Carla, where she remained until the time of her passing. She was a secretary by trade and worked at Uintah High School, Colton & Hammond Law Office, and the US Government’s GSA Motor Pool.
She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She served faithfully in many callings in the Church throughout her lifetime. Lynn and Norwood served an LDS mission in the Independence, MO, Visitor’s Center.
They also served as ordinance workers in the Provo, Utah LDS Temple and Lynn served in the Vernal Utah Temple after Norwood’s passing. She loved camping with family, especially grandkids, and friends. Lynn was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend.
Lynn is survived by sons, Louis (Janey) Hardy, Pleasant Grove, UT, Philip (Sharon) Hardy, Vernal, UT, Lary (Dawn) Hardy, Kaysville, UT; daughter, Carla (Rodney) Richardson, Spring, TX; three brothers and two sisters, Lawrence (Melda) Morrill, Neola, UT, Isola (Ray) Haslem, Roosevelt, UT, Brent (Ila) Morrill, Manhattan, KS, Lou Ann (Norman) Angus, Ballard, UT, Callis (Lynette) Morrill, Liberty, MO. She also leaves behind 20 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; one sister and four brothers, Clara (Glenn) Wahlquist, Horace (Anna) Morrill, Shardon (Iris) Morrill, Ralph (Lathel) Morrill and Max (Lois) Morrill; granddaughter Jody Richardson Holden; and great-great grandson Valor James Staheli.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 12:00 noon, in the Maeser LDS Stake Center, 2745 West 1000 North, Vernal, Utah. Viewings will be held Thursday, May 17, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove, UT; and Saturday morning prior to funeral services from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. at the Maeser Stake Center. Interment will be in the Rock Point Cemetery, 2284 West 2500 North, Maeser, UT, under the direction of Olpin Family Mortuary.
