Mabel Calhoun passed away August 31, 2018 at the age of 84 due to complications from a stroke. She was born on April 28, 1934 in Logan, West Virginia to Robert and Stella Mae Morgan. Her father was a professional photographer and mother a personal housekeeper.

Mabel enjoyed school and was a good student. Mabel and her parents moved to San Bernadino, California while she was still in high school. She started working shortly after finishing school.

Mabel met Alvin Calhoun at church. After dating for a year and a half, they were married on October 11, 1952. Alvin worked for the government at Norton Air Force Base and Mabel worked as a telephone operator for Mountain Bell.

After having their children, she became a full-time wife, mom, and house keeper. Alvin’s job took them to different places. They lived in Spokane, Washington, Cheyenne, Wyoming and then back to California.

They moved to Brigham City in 1965. Mabel enjoyed her part time jobs at local stores, reading, gardening, camping, fishing with her husband and family and of course shopping. She was the kind of person who spoke of how she felt no matter what.

Special thanks to Beehive Homes of Perry and their exceptional staff who she considered her extended family. Also, thanks to Access Hospice especially Laurie, her nurse for her care, love and compassion. Mabel is preceded in death by her parents and husband.

She is survived by her children Jim and Veronica Calhoun, Deborah and Steve Jensen and Faye and Lane Henderson. Also by her eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held on September 5th, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Brigham City Cemetery 300 South 300 East Brigham City, UT.
