Manuel D. “Don” Sears, 85, of Gloucester, passed away at his home on Monday, April 9, 2018. Born in Gloucester on July 28, 1932, he was the son of the late Manuel and Natalie (Silva) Sears. Don was a graduate of Gloucester High School and later served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

After the war, he began his life work as a carpenter initially for Frank Sawyer and later for many years with Mike Feldman, Jeff Lopes and Jack Costanzo. Don was also a lifelong member of the Capt. Lester S. Wass Post 3, Gloucester American Legion.

He is survived by his cousins, Ralph Oliver Sr., Carol Silva, Ralph Oliver Jr. and Mark Oliver. A graveside service will be held in Beechbrook Cemetery on Thursday, May 3rd at 2 p.m. Extended family and friends are cordially invited to attend. A memorial mass will be held at a later date in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church.
