Ronald D. Cluett, 77, of Gloucester, husband of Susan F. (Marr) Cluett passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on Sunday June 10th, 2018. Ron was born in Gloucester on September 24th, 1940, son of the late Hubert and Beulah (Mitchell) Cluett. He was a graduate of Gloucester High School where he was a member of ROTC.

Ron also spent time at the Maine Maritime Academy. He worked at Gloucester Engineering for nearly 40 years; retiring as the electrical engineering manager. He accumulated four patents from his work at Gloucester Engineering and Sylvania which have been cited in hundreds more.

Ron’s time at the Academy and career brought him to many countries and allowed him to meet many people. He dined with Mario Andretti and spent time with Steve McQueen and the Smothers Brothers. Ron loved his trips to Disney World with his Grandchildren and enjoyed his annual trips to Aruba with his wife Susan.

Together they always looked forward to going to the Blue Marlin in the afternoons for dinner and made many friends there. He had many interests including celestial navigation and wood working. He was a highly intelligent man that balanced a successful career with the love he shared with his family.

Ron is survived by his wife of 55 years, Susan F. (Marr) Cluett of Gloucester; his brother Hubert Cluett and his wife Ginger of Gloucester; his sister Geraldine Nichols and her husband Lionel of Florida; daughters, Caryn Brancaleone and her husband Paul, Catherine Bergeron and her husband Chris; his sons Christopher and his wife Kelly and Robert Cluett; grandchildren Melanie Cosgrove and her husband Luke, Katrina Brancaleone, Jonathan Bergeron, and Emily Bergeron; great-granddaughter Penelope Cosgrove; his brother-in-law, John “Bob” Rudolph and his canine companion Jay Jay. He was predeceased by his sister, Lorraine Rudolph. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church, Gloucester on Wednesday, June 13, at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.

A visitation will be held prior to the Mass on Wednesday in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. The burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
