Carol A. (Brosnan) Santos, 70, of Gloucester, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2018 at the Beverly Hospital. She was the loving wife of Martin H. Santos of Gloucester for 46 years. She was born in Gloucester on January 29, 1948 to the late Daniel and Janet (Greene) Brosnan.

She attended Gloucester schools and graduated Gloucester High School, Class of 1966. She attended nursing school in Canada at McGill Hospital and later at Holy Ghost Hospital in Cambridge, MA. Carol began her nursing career at Cardinal Cushing Villa in Gloucester.

She then went on to work as a supervisor for various companies in Gloucester including Rule Industries and Aid Pack. She later moved on to quality control for Stocker and Yale as well as Petra Fashions. Carol loved spending time outdoors including boating, fishing for striped bass, gardening and spending time at the beach.

She loved taking yearly cruises to Bermuda, various islands in the Caribbean and especially Alaska. In her later years, she enjoyed swimming at Cape Ann Marina and playing cribbage with her girlfriends, especially her close friend Dorothy Haight. Carol always put her family first and enjoyed entertaining friends and family over the years and made holidays memorable for all she welcomed into her home by creating fantastic feasts during family celebrations.

She always prepared more than enough and would send extras out with husband Marty to the extent that he became known as the “meals on wheels guy”. Carol is survived by her husband, Martin; son, Jeffery and daughter-in-law Lindsy; sister, Mary Brosnan of Rockport, MA; sisters-in-law, Mary Ellis of Gloucester, MA, Judy Brosnan of Rockport, MA, Sandra Brosnan of Gloucester, MA; brothers-in-law, Jim Pacheco and wife, Sandra of Gloucester, Mike Pacheco and wife Mollie of Maine; nieces, Helene Pomerleau, Bethany Brosnan, Jill Elwell, Marnie Sherman, Sarah Pacheco, Jamie Pacheco, Jillian Pacheco, and Erica Pratt; nephews, Mike Brosnan, Pierre Pomerleau and Aaron Pacheco. She is also survived by additional nieces and nephews.

Carol was predeceased by her mother-in-law, Julia Santos Pacheco of Gloucester, MA; sister and brother-in-law, Janet “Sue” and Pierre Pomerleau of Quebec, Canada, John “Red” Brosnan of Rockport, David Brosnan of Gloucester, her brother-in-law and wife, Victor and Ollie Santos of Gloucester; brother-in-law, Donald Ellis of Es, and nephew, Marc Pomerleau of Quebec, Canada. A graveside memorial will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 11:30am at Beechbrook Cemetery. A celebration of life will follow shortly thereafter.
