GRANT, Dolores Devaney , formerly of Ipswich, died peacefully Sunday, September 23, 2018. She was the loving wife of the late Richard Grant, with whom she shared over 38 years of marriage. She was born February 6, 1938 to H. Lawrence and Eleanor (Lucey) Devaney.

A graduate of Reading High School and Merrimack College, she worked for more than 30 years in various capacities for the Welfare Department of The Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Dee and Dick loved to travel and visited countries all over the world. Her favorite spot was Paris, which she visited many times.

Her other loves, besides Dick, were the several Weimaraner dogs she had over the years: Klaus, Otto, Jager, and Thor. Taking them for winter walks on Crane Beach was a favorite pastime. Dee was the sister of Patricia Quinlan and her husband Tom of Hampton Beach NH, Rosemary O’Malley and her husband Jack of Beverly and Eleanor Devaney, also of Beverly.

She was a loving aunt to her six nieces: Lauren Quinlan of Hampton, NH, Lissa Quinlan of Newport, RI, Nicole Quinlan of Boston, MA, Tanya O’Malley and Meaghan O’Malley of Salem, MA and Brianne O’Malley and her husband Kevin MacDonald of Portland, ME. She was also the stepmother of Sherry Murray and her husband Scott, and Ellen Zierk and her husband Doug, all of Beverly. Dee was devoted and generous to her family and her friends.

She loved and was loved. She will be missed. In compliance with her wishes, no visiting hours or services will be held.

A celebration of Dee’s life will be held in the near future. Donations in her memory can be made to the ASPCA.org of MA. Dee did love dogs!
