Henrietta E. (Caldwell) Edwards, 97, of Rockport, wife of the late Paul Norris Edwards, passed away at her home on Saturday morning, April 7, 2018. Henrietta was born in Washington D.C. on June 22, 1920. She was the daughter of the late William W. and Mildred (Tichenor) Caldwell.

At home, Henrietta was raised in a strict environment and helped out with cooking and cleaning. As a teen she studied music and became a member of the church choir. After high school she furthered her education by going to nursing school and becoming a nurse anesthetist and served in the U.S. Army as a nurse.

She was married for over 50 years and raised four children. Her husband, Paul was a Mason and both of them were active in the local chapter of the Eastern Star. The things in life that she valued most were her children and family.

She was a Baptist and her faith was a very important part of her life. Her advice to the younger generation was to “wake up and smell the roses, stay in school, work hard and go to college”. She is survived by her children, Paula Edwards-Stuart of Rockport, Carol Munoz and her husband Paul of San Diego, CA, David Edwards and his wife Erica of Beverly, MA; her fraternal twin sister, Florence Touchstone of NC; grandchildren David Edwards Jr., Lisa Batey, Mercedes, Carlos, Ricki and Carina Munoz and Melissa and Philip Moore.

She was predeceased by her daughter Marion Batey. Visiting hour in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St. Gloucester will be held on Saturday, April 14 from 9-10 a.m. with a service at 10 am in the funeral home. Family and friends are cordially invited.

Her burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery in Rockport. Online condolences may be given at: www.
