John Elliott Pistenmaa, 83, of Gloucester, passed away on Monday, April 30, 2018 at the Addison Gilbert Hospital. Born in Gloucester on January 30, 1935, he was the son of the late Urho John and Winifred (White) Pistenmaa. After high school, Elliott had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He had worked his whole life as a stone mason for himself and also with Bruce Johnson for many years. He is survived by his daughters Erikka Perkins and husband Bernard Perkins Jr. of Nantucket, Rebecca “Becca” Main of Gloucester; his son Otto “Sonny” Herrmann and wife Kelley Hosmer; grandchildren Romy, Maxx and Tres Herrmann. He was predeceased by his former wife Edith “Edie” (Gendreau) Pistenmaa; his sisters Elizabeth Strope and Patricia Faye McHugh.

In keeping with his wishes, there are no funeral services. Contributions may be made in his name to the Office of Veterans Services, 9 Dale Ave. , Gloucester, MA.
