John G. Jedrey, 93, of Gloucester passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at the Gloucester Healthcare. He was born in Gloucester on August 1, 1924, son of the late John J. and Leona (Parker) Jedrey. John was a graduate of Gloucester High School and also attended St. Bonaventure College.

He served in the United States Army, 23rd Air Depot Group during WWII having received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, American Theater Campaign Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal. Following the war, John went to California to do some tuna fishing. He came back to his native Gloucester to start his career in Mechanical Engineering, where he was employed at Pratt & Whitney and then General Electric for many years.

He later worked at Gloucester and Elliott Stevedoring and for over 25 years as a longshoreman and also unloaded numerous fishing vessels. He was a former member of the Gloucester Lodge of Elks, #892 and the Gloucester Amvets Post #32. The family would like to thank the staff at Gloucester Healthcare, Dr. Thompson and Nurse Practitioner, Lindsay Halverson for their compassion, kindness and great care that he received while he was there.

He is survived by his son, Christopher Jedrey and his fiancée Grace Parisi of Gloucester and his daughter, Lisa Wonson of Los Angeles, CA. John was predeceased by his step-sister, Eleanor Porter. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no funeral services or visiting hours.
