Ellen S. (Segal) Bevins, 69, of Gloucester, wife of Fred M. Bevins III, passed away after a lengthy battle with breast cancer at Lahey Hospital in Burlington, MA on April 8, 2018. Ellen was born in Malden, MA on July 3, 1948. She was the daughter of the late Samuel George and Anne Frances (Book) Segal.

Ellen attended Brookline High School and continued her studies at Brooks College in Boston earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education. The sun was her favorite thing. Any chance she could be at the beach or out on her deck catching some rays; that is what she loved.

She also loved reading and mostly being with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed watching her grandkids at any sport they were playing, especially if it was outdoors. She is survived by her husband Fred; son, Jonathan Bevins (and wife Diane), daughter Lisa (and husband, Steve); her amazing grandchildren Samuel Bevins, Katherine Bevins, Adam Borowick and Ava Borowick.

Her grandchildren lovingly referred to her as “Gream”. She is survived by sister, Carole Neitlich; niece, Renee Thornton; nephews Jeff Martin (and wife Kim), Doug Bevins and Peter Bevins; great nephew, Darren Thornton; great nieces, Marisa, Sarah, Megan and Katharine Martin; sister-in-law, Jackie Bevins; and many close and dear friends. She was predeceased by her sister, Gail Martin, brother-in-law Jack Bevins and her nephew, Marc Crosby.

In keeping with her wishes, service and burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Open Door Food Pantry, 28 Emerson Ave. Gloucester, MA 01930 or the Cape Ann Animal Aid, 4 Paws Lane, Gloucester, MA 01930.
