Mary A.’s Obituary Mary A. Barkofsky, age 82, of Mechanicsburg, PA met her heavenly Father on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 while surrounded by her family. Born July 13, 1936 and raised in Salisbury, PA, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Margaret “Gleaves” (Keefe) Knecht with her siblings Bernard (“Bernie”), Barbara, and Michael. After graduating from Salisbury-Elk Lick High School in 1954, she moved to Harrisburg to attend Central Penn Business School.

She met the love of her life, Joseph B. Barkofsky, in 1956, married two years later, and lived 60 beautiful years together. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, David Barkofsky and wife Linda of Apalachin, NY; Paul Barkofsky and wife Autumn Fiester of Princeton, NJ; and Kristine Mills and husband Curt of Hummelstown; sister, Barbara Segert of Harrisburg; brother, Michael Knecht of La Plata, MD; and four grandchildren, Talia Fiester, Benjamin Barkofsky, Connor and Tyler Mills. Mary was preceded in death by her brother Bernie Knecht.

Friends and family can pay their respects 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Sunday, February 10, 2019, at Malpezzi Funeral Home, 8 Market Plaza Way, Mechanicsburg. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 400 East Simpson Street, Mechanicsburg. Private burial will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation National Office, 1355 Peachtree St. NE, Suite 600, Atlanta, GA 30309.
