Mary Helen made her transition on Thursday, June 28, 2018. She was born to the union of Odis and Lillie Mae Hurt on October 22, 1947 in Memphis, TN. She gave her life to Christ at a young age.

She attended Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church when she moved to the Lockport area in the late 60s. Over the years, she worked at several kitchens to include: Salem Nursing Home, and Lewis University. She then became a childcare provider for many years.

She was known as mom, god-mom, auntie and grandma to many children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Odis Hurt and Lillie Mae Hurt; son, Marvin Eskridge; two brothers, Ernest and Odis Hurt, Jr She leaves to cherish her memories; her dear husband of 53 years, Willie E. Eskridge, Sr.; two daughters, Mary Louise Lee (Andre Sr.), Gloria Jean Eskridge, both of North Carolina; a special daughter, Kaniece Edwards; her only son, Willie Eskridge Jr.; six grandchildren, Andre Lee Jr. (Shantell), Marcus Lee (Shantel), Jermaine Lee, Jalisa Hawkins, Gabriela Cyphers and Janis Lazaro; special niece, Jimmie “Tootsie” Edmon; sister, Emma Jean Phillips and Earnestine Wilson; brothers, Willie Hurt and Alonzo Hurt (Diane); special friend of 48 years, Ora Lee Jones, who has been there through life’s ups and downs always as best friend and sister; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
