Mary Ciaramitaro, 82, of Rockport, formerly of Gloucester, passed away on Friday morning, January 11, 2019, at Den Mar Health and Rehabilitation Center in Rockport. Mary was born in Gloucester, MA on February 20, 1936, the daughter of the late Antonio and Frances (Lucido) Ciaramitaro. She attended school in Gloucester as a young girl and had worked at Rule Industries as an assembler.

Being a hairdresser was her favorite occupation and she had worked for many years for Ina’s and Fina’s in Magnolia. She spent her spare time knitting, playing Bingo on Wednesday and Friday afternoons at the Rose Baker Senior Center, as well as taking time out to go dancing; and don’t forget about Tuesday nights, “out with the girls”. Mary was a member of the Seafood Retirees and a member of the Madonna Del Rosario Society.

She is survived by her sister Antoinette “Etta” Balestraci; her brother John “Jack” Ciaramitaro; nieces, Gina Ciaramitaro, Patricia Ciaramitaro, Eleanor Curcuru, Cheryl Fontana and Sheila Nicastro; nephews, Anthony and Frank Ciaramitaro, Charles and Michael Balestraci, and many cousins and special friends. Mary was predeceased by her brothers, Salvatore and Joseph CIaramitaro. Her visiting hour will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St. Gloucester on Wednesday, January 16 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Family and friends are cordially invited.

Following the visiting hour her funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Ann’s Church at 11 a.m. with her burial in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to: St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o Holy Family Parish, 60 Prospect St., Gloucester, MA 01930 or the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
