Maude Silver King, 106, of Carolina Gardens of Laurens, SC, and formerly of Asheville and Waynesville, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, June 12, 2018. She was born in Rutherford County February 4, 1912. Mrs. King was preceded in death by her parents, Creed and Lillie Silver; husband, Marvin B. King; daughter, Katherine Allison; grandson, M. Allan King; five brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by sons, M. Bruce King, of Asheville, and David M. King (Ida), of Gray Court, SC; granddaughters, Sylvia K. Kochler (Keith), of Wilmington, NC, Ashley M. King, of Greenville, SC, and Erin E. King, of Laurens, SC; grandsons, Charles M. Allison (Teresa), of Waynesville, and Kevin D. Allison (Janette), of Taylors, SC; great-grandchildren, Joshua Allison, of Waynesville, and Mackenzie Hurley and Dylan Hurley, of Gray Court, SC; son in-law, Robert H. Allison, of Taylors, SC; and sister, Marie S. Reece, of Maryville, TN. She was a descendant of George Silver, Jr., who was a Revolutionary War patriot and early settler in Kona (Yancey County) NC. Mrs. King was a member of Cedar Hill Free Will Baptist Church where she taught the Adult Bible Class and played piano and organ for over 50 years.

She worked as a noted floral designer, at various florists, in the Asheville area and served as a Republican Poll Judge for the Buncombe County Board of Elections following her retirement from the floral business. A celebration of Mrs. King’s life will be held on Friday, June 15, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue. Reverends Howard Messer and Benjamin Rumph will officiate.

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
