Merl’s Obituary Merl Devon Croy, age 93, Wakarusa, died at 11:50 am, Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Miller’s Merry Manor after a long illness. He was born May 18, 1925 in Elkhart County to Leo B. and Mertie (Mishler) Croy. Merl lived his lifetime in the New Paris, Wakarusa, and Nappanee area.

He attended New Paris High School. On September 9, 1944, he married Phyllis Stump in Gravelton. She preceded in death January 9, 2006.

Merl was a WW II Veteran of the United States Army. He had worked at Huffman Bakery and Coppes Kitchens in Nappanee and retired from CTS in Elkhart after working there for 50 years. He was a member of Union Center Church of the Brethren.

Merl enjoyed NorthWood sports, horseshoe pitching, bowling and Chicago Cubs Baseball. He had made hundreds of crocheted blankets. Surviving are his sons, Randy Croy, Nappanee, Lynn Croy, Goshen; daughter-in-laws, Mary Croy, Kim Croy, both of Nappanee; grandchildren, Dana Croy, Rene (Doug) Gibson, Rod (Candie) Croy, Craig (Stacy) Croy, Todd (Linda) Croy, Chadd (Tori) Croy, Dustin Croy, Neil Croy; 19 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by sons, Garry and Roger Croy; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Croy; sister, Alberta M. Overholser; and brother, Charles E. Croy. Family and friends may call from 4-8, Friday, March 29th at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee and for 1 hour prior to the 11:00 am Funeral Service at Union Center Church of the Brethren , Saturday, March 30th. Rev.

Frank Ramierz will officiate and burial will be Union Center East Cemetery with Military Graveside services. Memorial contributions may be given to Union Center Church of the Brethren.
