Michael Reece Michael James Reece, 74, of Burlington, died Saturday, September 29, 2018, at his home after a short battle with cancer. Born August 25, 1944, in Iowa City, IA, he was the son of Harry Russell and Vera Leona Dameron Reece. On October 9, 1965, he married Karen Elaine Brown in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Michael worked and retired from Fedral Mogul after 41. 5 years. He also worked at B-Dalton Book Store in Westland Mall.

He graduated from Apollo High School in 1962. He was a U.S. Veteran, serving in the United States Air Force as an Airman 3, during the Vietnam era, discharged in 1965. Michael was an avid wood carver, a NASCAR fan, and loved disk golf.

He was also very proud of his 1972 MGB Convertible. Survivors include his wife, Karen Elaine Reece of Burlington, IA; one son, Shannon Robert Reece of Burlington, IA, daughter, Felicia Jo Shores of Burlington, IA, one brother, Richard Keith Reece of Joplin, MO; one sister, Carolyn Rae Stalkfleet of West Libery, IA, Many nieces and nephews: Bobby, David, Ryan, Kathy Reece, and Monica Bieri, Sheri Kustka, and Cindy Biggs. .

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Ted Reece, nephew Randall Reece, niece Dea Stalkfleet, and infant Reece Twins. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory. The memorial service for Mike will be Monday October 1st at 11am with Pastor Dean Graber officiating.

Burial will be at a later date in Columbus City Cemetery. Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home following the service.

A memorial has been established in his name.
