Nellie M. Adams, age 102, of Elwood, passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Community Parkview Care Center in Elwood following an extended illness. She was born on October 18, 1916, to the late George and Ethel (Crabtree) Ball. She married the love of her life Joseph Adams on August 19, 1939 and they shared many happy years together before his death in 1980.

Nellie retired in 1980 from Delco Remy Corporation where she had worked in production for more than 30 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the U.A.W. Local 662. Nellie loved to read and crochet and loved having family gatherings.

She was known for making afghans for all of her family members. Nellie will be deeply missed, but lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Nellie is survived by her son, Dennis J (Sharon) Adams of Elwood, 4 grandchildren, Colleen Lamey, Chris (Beth ) Adams, Daniel (Melissa) Adams, Jon Lamey, and Carol (Monte) Lively, great-grandchildren, Eric (Nyoka) Lamey, Justin Lamey, Lauren Lamey, Brandon (Jessica) Adams, Tyler Adams, Kristi Adams, Haleigh Adams, Dreyton Adams, Weston (Joni) Lively, Corey Lively, and Holly Lively, 7 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and her “adopted” fur-baby, Maddie.

Nellie was preceded in death by her father, George W Ball, mother, Ethel G Ball, husband, Joseph Adams, 2 brothers, George Ball, Jr.and Charles Ball, and 2 sisters Mildred Crist and Mary Irene Ball. Per Nellie’s wishes, funeral services will be private and she will be buried in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Dunnichay Funeral Home.
