Truitt, age 83 of Marlette, MI passed away after a brief illness Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at McLaren Port Huron Hospital in Port Huron, MI. He was born January 12, 1936 in Jerome, MI son of the late Leslie Carl and Hannah Adalaide (Marvin) Truitt. Nelson married Ruth E. Schuman on March 22, 1958 in Sandusky, MI and they were married for 60 years.

He worked as a welder for 25 years at Marlette Homes in Marlette, MI and also at Champion Bus in Imlay City, MI for many years. Nelson loved spending time with his family, hunting, fishing and trapping. Nelson is survived by his wife, Ruth Truitt of Marlette, MI; three children, Curtis Truitt of Detroit, MI, Connie (James) Navarro of Marlette, MI and Christine (Jack) Chase of Lapeer, MI; one granddaughter, Isabella Navarro; one brother, Robert Truitt of Deckerville, MI; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters. The family will receive friends and family from 4 – 8 PM Friday, February 22, 2019 at Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette and 10 AM until time of the service on Saturday. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette with Reverend Max Amstutz officiating.
