Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at First Baptist Church in Geronimo with the Rev. John Cullison, pastor officiating and Chaplain Billy Fred Crow and Don Crow assisting. Music will be by Rev.

Tony Elkins. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Funeral Home.

Nettie Florence Johnsey, age 85 of Geronimo, passed away Friday, March 22, 2019 in Lawton, Oklahoma. She was born February 17, 1934 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Evert and Nettie Miller. Soon after her birth, her mother passed away, and Nettie went to live with her Grandparents SQ and Adna Miller who continued to raise her until she graduated from high school.

She married Arthur Johnsey on August 25, 1951 at the home of her grandparents, which was located east of Geronimo. She spent her entire married life in the Geronimo area. Nettie graduated from Geronimo High School in 1951.

Soon after her graduation, she went to work for Bell Telephone Company. After her marriage to Arthur, she went to work for City National Bank and worked for them until 1953. When her husband went into the Army, she followed him to Fort Smith, Arkansas.

They came back to the Lawton, Oklahoma area in 1955. Nettie then went back to work for City National Bank, until her daughter Cindy was born. From 1968 to 1980 Nettie and Arthur went on Custom Harvesting, where she drove grain trucks to help out in the wheat fields.

In the later years she cooked, and delivered meals to the harvest crew. In 1983, she went to work for the Comanche-Cotton Co-op Special Education Program housed at the Woodland Hills School in Lawton, Oklahoma as a para-professional. Later it was moved to the Faxon School in Faxon, Oklahoma where she worked for them until 1990 when they ended the program.

She then went to work for Geronimo Public Schools as a teacher’s assistant in the Special Education Program from 1990 until she retired in 1997. She was a volunteer at the Geronimo Nutrition Center, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Geronimo where she was baptized on January 1, 1943 as a young girl. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Arthur Johnsey, one daughter and son in law Cindy and Darrell Hanza of Geronimo, Oklahoma, three grandchildren and their spouses Heather and Eddie Scoles of Morrison, Oklahoma, Briant and Ashley Hanza of Geronimo, Oklahoma, Kyle and Jessica Hanza, Paso Robles, California, nine grand great children, Blake Scoles, Dylan Scoles, Ella Scoles, Easton Scoles, Geibriel Johnson, Logan Gardner, Dakota Hanza, Harper Hanza, Brooke Hanza, one nephew Thomas Clark and family, one niece Tammy Landrum and husband Kevin and family, two cousins Bobbie Stoll and spouse Ruben, and Linda McConnell of Lawton, other extended family members and numerous friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Evert and Nettie Miller, step mother Gladys Miller, grandparents SQ and Adna Miller, son Gregory Johnsey, two sisters and their spouses Jacquetta and TJ Clark, Marylin and D.H. Malone, a brother in law Raphie Coosewoon, one sister in law Maxine Crow and spouse Bill, and three brothers in laws and spouses Sid and Mae Johnsey, Lee and Evie Johnsey, Marvin and Dean Johnsey. Memorial Contributions in lieu of flowers made be made in Nettie’s name to First Baptist Church of Geronimo P.O. Box 128 Geronimo, Oklahoma 73543.
