Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Lynn Tyler “Fluffy” Mason, 73, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2019 in Lawton.

Lynn was born October 26, 1945 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Leonard Basil and Curtis Zula (Tyler) Mason. He attended Midwestern State University, was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity and was in ROTC. He took his commission in 1967 in the army as a military police lieutenant.

This was the same year he married Katie Humphrey. After training at Ft. Gordon, Georgia, and serving at Ft.

Bragg, North Carolina he served in Vietnam. Stepping aside from his military police duties, he volunteered to take command of an infantry platoon. He was awarded numerous medals while serving in Vietnam, including 3 Bronze Stars with V devices and a Silver Star.

After Vietnam, Mr. Mason was given the position of Commander of the Criminal Investigation Division for lower Georgia and Florida, working out of Ft. Stewart, Georgia. Two years later Mr. Mason left the army and moved back to Wichita Falls, Texas.

After completing his Master’s Degree in Marketing from Midwestern, Mr. Mason and his family entered the corporate world. Working for Schlitz Brewing Company and Almaden Winery, he served areas in New Mexico, Indiana, California, Dallas, Texas and came to Lawton in 1982. He viewed challenges in the corporate world with a smile as he won multiple awards for his achievements, always looking for the next challenge.

Mr. Mason started in the restaurant business in Lawton but settled into owning Fluffy’s Discount Liquor, Beer & Wine and Fluffy’s Quick Stop. He enjoyed dealing with both vendors and customers and loved to quote an ex-mayor of Lawton by declaring, “I Love Lawton”. Mr. Mason is survived by his wife of 51 years, Katie Humphrey Mason, daughter, Katie Lynn Mustonen, son-in-law, Ilkka Mustonen, two grandchildren, Mason Mustonen and Anya Mustonen, as well as some beloved in laws.

He was preceded in death by his parents, aunt, dear friends and in laws. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lawton Humane Society, P.O. Box 3134, Lawton, OK 73502.
