Olamay B. Pritchett, 88, of Charlotte, through the blessing of hospice, died peacefully at her home with her husband by her side on Saturday, January 26, 2019. Olamay was born in Charleston, South Carolina, on September 7, 1930. She and her family came to Charlotte in the 1940’s and she worked for Holiday Inn as a Manager of House Services for twenty years before retiring.

In 1968, she married James Pritchett. Olamay enjoyed many things in life, but one of her favorites was playing the odds. Bingo or slots, it did not matter as she enjoyed going to Cherokee.

Most of all, however, Olamay loved the time spent with her family and friends and she will be missed by all who knew her. Olamay is survived by her husband, James; her son Ronald “Ronnie” Bates of Frankfurt, KY, and his son Robert “Little Robert” Bates; her daughter Peggy Harrill of Gastonia; and her youngest son Robert “Bobby” (wife Janet) Bates of Mint Hill, NC, their son Shane (wife Kimber) Bates and their children Lexie and Autumn. Olamay is further survived by numerous other family and friends.

Olamay’s family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for her and for them. All services will be held on Wednesday, January 30th, at the funeral home, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, NC 28105. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM with services to follow in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 AM.

Interment will take place at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Olamay Pritchett please visit our Sympathy Store.
