George Wayne Morris “Wayne”, of Charlotte died Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the age of 80 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Wayne was born in Charlotte at Mercy Hospital on December 11, 1938, the youngest of seven. He grew up in Charlotte and attended Harding High School, after which he joined the Air Force as an airplane mechanic.

Throughout his life, Wayne worked as a mechanic and a musician. He was a very talented self-taught bass guitar player, singer, and had a wicked sense of humor. Wayne is survived by a family who loved him and will miss him dearly.

Wayne’s family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of hosting a gathering in his honor. Friends may call upon the family from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, January 24, at the funeral home, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, NC 28105. Donations for Alzheimer’s research in lieu of flowers would be very much appreciated.
