William Conrad Copeland, 77, of Cornelius, NC, died January 13, 2019, at Carrington Place in Matthews, NC. Bill was born in Charlotte, NC, on May 20, 1941, the son of John Thomas an Oma Starnes Copeland. He grew up there and in Union County.

He answered his country’s call to service and enlisted in the United States Air Force, from which he was honorably discharged. Blessed with an ability to work with his hands, Bill worked as a heavy equipment and truck mechanic. He worked for Carrol’s Alignment in Charlotte before starting his own business, Bill’s Frame and Alignment.

Bill enjoyed many things in life. Whether going to casinos, watching sports, or enjoying the outdoors where he hunted bird and rabbit in addition to fishing, Bill took in much of what life had to offer. Most of all, however, Bill loved the time spent with family and friends, and he will be dearly missed.

Bill is survived by his wife, Susan; a son, William “Billy” (wife Wendy) Copeland of Cornelius and their son, Anthony; a brother, Larry (wife Mary) Copeland of Tucson, AZ; and another brother, Charles “Dan” (wife Betty) Copeland of Monroe, NC. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bill’s family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for them and for him.

A gathering of friends and family will take place at noon on Friday, January 18, 2019, at the funeral home, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, NC 28105. At 1 pm, all present will join the family in the funeral home chapel for a service honoring the life, love and blessing of this wonderful man. Following the service, all are invited to make their way to Forest Lawn West Cemetery where Bill will be laid to rest with military honors.
