Fischer, age 80, Graceville, MN, passed away Monday, September 17, 2018, at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, September 21, at 11:00 a.m. at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville with Father Brian Oestreich officiating. Music will be provided by organist Deb Farwell and vocalists Deb Stueve, Sandi Bauer, Chris Weick, and Jean Costello.

Burial will be in the Graceville Consolidated Cemetery, Graceville. Honorary pallbearers will be Patricia’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be Patricia’s children ~ Martin, Rose, Patti, Raymond, Janet, Dennis, and Philip.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the church and will continue Friday morning one hour prior to the service. Patricia was born on March 1, 1938, to Frank and Sophia (Giebel) Piechowski in Browns Valley, MN. She married Sylvester Fischer on October 15, 1957, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Browns Valley.

Together they raised their seven children on the family farm outside of Dumont, MN. Patricia enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved to maintain her beautiful flower gardens and her large garden, resulting is vegetables for herself, family, and friends.

Patricia was also known as a great cook and an extensive baker. Her children remember caramel rolls and cookies whenever they came over for a visit and the elaborate family dinners during the holidays. Throughout her life she was active at the St. Peter’s parish of Dumont, serving on Ladies Aid and for various church functions.

Patricia also loved to dance; she and Sylvester were active in square dancing in the area during their younger years. Patricia and Sylvester also enjoyed traveling together, touring the United States on various bus trips. Patricia is survived by her husband Sylvester of 60 years; children, Martin (Peggy) Fischer of Eau Claire WI, Rose (John) Appel of Aitkin MN, Patti (Bill) Stalboerger of Waubun, MN, Raymond Fischer of Asheville, NC, Janet (Bruce) Wulff of Willmar, MN, Dennis (Nancy) Fischer of Beardsley, MN, and Philip (Mary) Fischer of New Ulm, MN.

Patricia is also survived by 19 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; her sister Helen Whempner of Wilmot, SD; and many other relatives and friends. Patricia is preceded in death by her parents; and siblings Beatrice, Margaret, Francis, and Leonard.
