Paul B. Norrod February 27, 1929 – April 23, 2018 Paul B. Norrod, 89, passed away Monday, April 23, 2018 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, Ohio. Mr. Norrod was born on February 27, 1929 in Pleasant Hill, Tennessee to the late Floyd and Jimmy Mae (Brown) Norrod. He was raised in Crossville, Tennessee in one of the original Cumberland Homestead properties created by the “New Deal” program in 1934.

He graduated from the related Homesteads High School in 1947. Mr.… Read More » Norrod served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a heavy equipment operator. Mr. Norrod worked as a pipefitter for the American Ship Building Company in Lorain, Ohio and Tampa, Florida, retiring in 1991.

In his youth, he worked at many jobs from delivering milk to monitoring attendance at building K-25 of the Oak Ridge uranium production facility. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on cars, welding and fabricating, and motorcycling. He is survived by his son, Paul M. (Kathleen) of Wakeman, Ohio; daughter, Brenda Norrod of Norwalk, Ohio, son, Douglas of Wakeman, Ohio; sister, Floydene Sehl of Florida; grandchildren, Kyle (Kristin) Romantic, Justin (Taylor) Romantic, Gregory (Alyssa) Norrod, Kelly Norrod, and Zachary Norrod; great-grandchildren, Jonathan Norrod, Kendra and Carter Romantic, and Klayton Romantic; step great-grandchildren, Adriana and Mason Oliva; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Norrod was preceded in death by sisters, Abby Jo Rogers and Jewell Garrett, and daughter-in-law, Cindy Rae Norrod. Friends may call on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 from 12:00pm until time of funeral services at 1:00pm at Giffin Chapel of the Ohio Veterans Home, 3416 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, Ohio. Chaplain Paul Birmingham of the Ohio Veterans Home will officiate.

Burial will follow on the grounds of the Ohio Veterans Home. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to contribute to Paul’s memory may do so to the OVH – RBF – Adopt-a-Vet Fund, In Memory of Paul Norrod, Ohio Veterans Home, 3416 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the Ohio Veterans Home and Stein Hospice for the exceptional care they provided to Mr. Norrod.
