Mr. Richard Lee “Pete” Roden, age 87 of Fort Payne, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2019. Mr. Roden was born on December 26, 1931 to the late Jesse and Alice Madison Roden in DeKalb County, Alabama. He was retired from the Fort Payne Fire Department where he served for 25 years.

Mr. Roden served our country in the United States Army and was a member of the V.F.W. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, February 21, 2019 from the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 from 4 until 7 p.m. and on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the 2 p.m. hour of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Union Hill Baptist Church, 2525 Fischer Road NE, Fort Payne, AL 35967, or to the American Heart Association. Mr. Roden is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marjorie T. Roden; children, Teresa & Eddie Freeman and Neil & Tammy Roden; grandchildren, Drew, Micah, Taylor and Logan; great-grandchildren, Callen, Lucy Ellen and Dakota.
