Obituary for Ralph Taylor Smith Ralph Smith – Weber City, VA Ralph Taylor Smith, 79, Weber City, VA passed away, Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at the V.A. Medical Center, Mountain Home, TN. Ralph was born in Scott County, VA on February 16, 1939. He was the son of the late Wrightly and Janie (Taylor) Smith.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy and retired from Holston Defense as a supervisor in the Water Treatment Division. In addition to his parents, his wife, Helen Johnson Smith preceded him in death in 2016. Surviving are his daughters, Katrina Smith Toole, Weber City, VA and Renita Smith Probst, Braselton, GA; grandchildren, Sullivan Toole, Alexandra Probst, and Avery Probst; sisters, Deloris and Benny Bishop, Janet and Kevin Kennedy, and Valerie and Charlie Fisher; brothers, Ward and Sharon Smith, Larry Smith, Kent and Dale Smith, and Dale and Flora Smith; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Wayne Hedrick officiating.
Burial will follow at the Johnson Family Farm, Ft. Blackmore, VA, with military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post #3, Kingsport, TN and Post #265, Gate City, VA. Sullivan Toole, Avery Probst, Kurt Lane, Avery Fansler, Jeff Frazier, and Randy Fish will serve as pallbearers.
