Ralph W. Sorensen December 05, 1924 – March 20, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Ralph W. Sorensen, 94, of Menominee passed away Wednesday March 20, 2019. He was born on December 5, 1924 in Menominee to the late Soren and Anna (Christensen) Sorensen. In his early years he spent many hours at his Uncle Bill’s farm making memories that he would later enjoy telling to his children and grandchildren.

Ralph graduated in 1942 from Menominee High School. After high school, Ralph began working at Giddings & Lewis in an entry level position. Over his forty-four year career there, he worked as a pattern maker and eventually retired as the plant superintendent.

On June 12, 1948, Ralph married Florence Audit at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Marinette. She preceded him in death on April 12, 2012. Ralph was a lifelong Packers and Tigers fan, and he played third base for the Menominee City Baseball Team in the 1940’s.

He enjoyed golfing, wood working, bowling, gardening and playing pool and beanbag toss with his family. Ralph is survived by two sons Carl (Kathy) and Howard (MaryAnn) both of Menominee, daughter-in-law Kim Sorensen of Hoover, Alabama, son-in-law Greg Slater of Mackinaw City, Michigan and brother Donald of Iron Mountain, Michigan. He had nine grandchildren: Troy (Christi), Kimberly (Seth), Matthew (Erin), Tim (Lorelei), Jason (Lindsey), Brian (Jaida), Jennifer (Joshua), Kristin and Adam.

He also had ten great grandchildren who were the pride and joy of his later years. In addition to his parents and wife Florence, he was preceded in death by his sisters Margaret and Louella, a son William, his daughter Joann Slater, and infant daughter Mary. Visitation will be held at Thielen Funeral Home in Marinette, Wisconsin on Saturday, March 30, 2019 from 1pm to 3pm followed by a funeral service at 3pm officiated by Reverend Brian Gerber.

Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.
