Obituary for Robert “Bob” G. Graham Jr Robert G. “Bob” Graham, born August 27, 1932 passed away Sunday November 4, 2018 at the age of 86. He was the son of Robert Gilmer Graham, Sr. and Agnes Corlette Graham of Nashville, Tn. He was preceded in death by son James Tupper Graham, daughter Mary Katherine Graham and sister Anne Graham Lea.

He is survived by wife Katherine M. (Bebe) Graham, son Robert Gilmer (Gil) Graham, III (Michelle), grandsons Robert G. Graham, IV and Briggs Davis Graham, nephews Overton Lea, Randal McGavock Lea (Trisha), John Witherspoon Macey (Cheryl), and nieces Graham Lea Jackson (Bob), Mari-Margaret Macey Clausen (Clause), and numerous great nephews and nieces. Bob was a graduate of Montgomery Bell Academy and Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. where he obtained a Mechanical Engineering degree.

In High School, he was president of his class and captain of the football team. He was president of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity while at Vanderbilt. He was a licensed professional engineer and TN Air National Guard pilot where he obtained the rank of Major.

His business career began in Nashville as a Sales Engineer for McMurray Steel Company before starting a steel bridge company called Graham Structures, Inc in 1966. He sold that company in the early 1970’s and then owned and operated Bob Graham Construction Company in Nashville until 1979. After working a brief period as director of construction for Service Merchandise, Bob and wife Bebe moved to Fort Payne, Alabama where he worked for Metal Deck Inc. in 1981.

Bob then started Steadfast Bridge Company in 1982, which he later sold to Contech in 2000, and then finished his career at Bailey Bridges, Inc. in Fort Payne. Bob was a member of First Methodist Church in Nashville and First Presbyterian Church in Fort Payne. He was active in many professional associations related to the steel and bridge industries, as well as civic activities such as Kiwanis, Rotary club, Chamber of Commerce, Industrial and Airport Boards.

Bob lead a full life as a leader, entrepreneur, business man, pilot, and engineer. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 7th at Wilson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12 noon until the 2 p.m. hour of service.

Interment will follow Thursday at Mt. Olivett Cemetery in Nashville, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to First Presbyterian Church, FUMC youth, or Southern Care New Beacon Hospice.
