Robert Glen Hawkins, 84, of Shelburn, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Cobblestone Crossing in Terre Haute, Indiana after a long illness. He was born on June 26, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois to Gladys Morris Hawkins and Ruben “RD” Hawkins. Bob married Barbara Potts Sanders on March 31, 1956.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, having served aboard the USS MT Katmai and the USS Mansfield. He was retired from farming and the Bindley Western Drug Company. Bob was a member of the Shelburn First Baptist Church, American Legion, and VFW.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Barbara Potts Sanders Hawkins, and great-grandchild, Chelsea Jones. He is survived by his children: Charlene Sanders Ditto (Chuck), Cheryl Sanders Kemp (Jerry), Katherine Myers (Mike), Bobby Hawkins (Buffy), Tim Hawkins, and Karen Hudson (Jeff). Also surviving is his brother, Von Hawkins (Loretta), ten grandchildren: Micah Jones, Seth Kemp, Adam Myers, William Kemp, Ryan Coulson, Andrew Myers, Nathan Kemp, Luke Myers, Alexandra Hudson, and Austin Hudson, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, June 11, 2018 at Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan, Indiana with Pastor Benjamin Wetherington officiating. Interment will follow in Little Flock Cemetery in Shelburn, Indiana with a military graveside service by the Sullivan, Shelburn and Hymera Legion Posts and Sullivan county VFW Post. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Sunday, June 10, 2018 and from 12:00 PM until the service Monday, June 11, 2018 at Brust Funeral Home.

The family wishes to thank the many health care workers from the offices of Drs. Ellis and Gaurav, Fresenius Dialysis, Ashley McCammon with Sullivan Home Health, Great Lakes Caring, Miller’s Assisted Living and Cobblestone Health Campus, as well as Milburn’s Pharmacy and so many others for their compassionate care. His grandson Andy Myers was his special caregiver in his last years.
