Robert D. “Bob” Perkins, 91, of North Vernon passed away at 3:50 p.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2019, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus. Mr. Perkins was born on June 3, 1927 in North Vernon the son of Richard and Violet Perkins. He married Nellie T. Thomas Elliott on August 13, 1995, at the First Baptist Church in North Vernon; she preceded him in death on December 8, 2018.

Mr. Perkins was a 1942 graduate, graduating at the age of 15. He worked sales for Arvin’s Automotive in Columbus for 35 years and was a member of Vernon Baptist Church. Mr. Perkins enjoyed collecting and repairing clocks, computers, working puzzles and Rubik cubes.

Survivors include sons, Gary A Perkins, Donald G. Perkins, Steven D. (Peggy) Perkins and Lloyd W. Perkins, all of Columbus; step-son, Rex (Clara) Elliott of Hillsboro, Tennessee; daughters, Teresa L. “Terry” Henderson and Anita K. Zapfe, both of Columbus; step-daughters, Connie Simmonds of Brown County and Rhea Elliott of San Antonio, Texas; 21 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. A funeral service for Mr. Perkins will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 13, 2019, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev.

Don Morris officiating. Family and Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, January 12, 2019, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Sunday. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the American Cancer Society.
