Obituary of Robert Carter Salisbury- Robert A. Carter, 75, of Salisbury passed away on December 18, 2018 at PRMC under Hospice care, surrounded by his loving family, and a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease and other health issues. Born July 19, 1943, in Washington D.C. to Rose H. and Robert Ashton Carter. Survived by “his girls” Joan, his devoted wife, the love of his life and best friend for over 50 years, and his cherished daughter, Terri Carter Hunter, who was a bright light in his life and totally devoted to her Dad, and the son-in-law he loved like a son, Bill Hunter, his son Billy (Ana), and his daughter Michelle (Rick), and their daughter Madelyn.
Terri and Bill were with him every step of the way as his health continued to decline and did everything, they could to make his life easier. Also survived by his cousins who were more like brothers/sisters to him and their families: John Hall (Susan), Joanne Angelo (John), Marie Fitzgerald (Charles), Anna Rubino (John), Dominick Sampogna (Phyllis) , Rosemary Gureck Clutz, and daughter Nikki, Helen Shirley( Larry); sister-in-law Barbara McGiffin (Bill), niece Wendy (Andy), nephews Billy (Cindy) and Doug, and their children/grandchildren; brothers-in-law Ernie Rowe, who he loved like a brother (Dorothy), and their son Ernie (Amy), and John Rowe and his daughter Sherry. He is also survived by his best friends for over 50 years – Willie and Dee Berdeguez, who he loved dearly and looked forward to seeing on their visits, and a host of friends he treasured in the Washington, DC area – he never tired of talking about them and the “good old days” and it always brought a smile to his face.
Bob was a true gentleman who always tried to find the good in people, never had an unkind word about anyone, and always did the right thing. He was totally committed and loyal to the family and friends who were so dear to him. The family would like to thank the Hospice and PRMC staff who treated Bob and the family with dignity, respect, kindness and caring, and Dr. Moondra, who was always just a phone call away.
At his request, he will be cremated (Holloway Funeral Home will handle this service), and a memorial service will be planned for the spring. In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made to the city of Salisbury Fire Department, Station 1, 1100 Beaglin Park Drive, Salisbury, MD 21804. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home, PA, 501 Snow Hill Road, Salisbury, MD 21804.
