RONALD’s Obituary Ronald Keith Barker, 70 years old of Antioch, IL, passed away Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Advocate Condell Medical Center, Libertyville, IL. He was born October 26, 1948 in Orillia, Ontario, Canada, the son of the late James Douglas and Joyce (nèe Worth) Barker. On March 8, 1999, Ron married Jane Richards in Las Vegas, NV.

He was a friend of Bill W for 28 years and very active in his and others’ recovery. Ron worked for the Fox Waterway Agency where he retired as executive director. He had a wonderful sense of humor, loved to read, and was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.

Ron is survived by his wife of nearly 20 years, Jane; their children, Jeffrey (Vasiliki) Barker, Jason Barker, Jay (Kristen) VandeBerg, Jonathan VandeBerg, Jennifer VandeBerg; their four grandchildren, Malina and Zachary Barker and Alexander and Elizabeth VandeBerg; his siblings, Terrence (Shirley) Barker, Leslie (Russell) Johnson; his brother-in-law, Fritz VanDeWeerd; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Caroline VanDeWeerd. A Memorial Visitation will be held from 2:00PM until 6:00PM with Words of Remembrance beginning at 5:00PM on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. Antioch, IL 60002.

Interment is private. For additional information, call 847-395-4000. In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to a family memorial in care of Jane Barker, 26161 W. Heart O’ Lakes Blvd.
