Ronald Dale Pexton August 29, 1930 – January 19, 2019 Ronald Dale Pexton, 88, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday January 19, 2019. Ron was born to Milton and Audrin (Wilhelmsen) Pexton in Salt Lake City, Utah. Ron married Lynne Mills in the Ogden Temple October 8, 1976.

When they married, he became the stepfather and grandfather to a wonderful family. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ron served as a missionary for 3 years in Japan. He also served a second mission with his wife Lynne in Japan for 18 months.

He served as Stake Executive Sec. for three different Stake presidents. Ron served his country in the U.S. Army in Japan for another 2 years in the Counter Intelligence Corp.

While serving in the Army he also toured with the USO in the Far East. Ron graduated from East High School and attended U of U (where he was Delta Phi president), BYU where he earned his Master’s degree, and the Univ of Illinois where he did his Doctrinal studies. Ron was a professor of music at the University level.

He was head of the Fine Arts Dept. at Illinois Central College. For many years he directed The Philharmonic Chorale in Peoria Illinois.

Ron was invited to sing with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir at the age of 16 becoming the youngest member. Ron also toured with the U of U theater throughout South America. He later moved to New York and was a Music Editor at Prentice-Hall Publishers.

Ron had opportunities to study music and perform at TangleWood Music Center, the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Ron is survived by his wife Lynne; children Joni Ann (Jim) Ashworth, Michele Jennine (Scott) Kester, Jennifer Lynne (Jim) Crane and Edward Anthony (Missie) Pasquale; his brother Richard Pexton; his brother-in-law Mike Mills; 28 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren (6 more this year sometime) and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents Milton and Audrin (Wilhelmsen) Pexton; Robert Pexton (brother).

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 25, 2019 at the Shadow Valley Chapel, 5191 Old Post Road, Ogden 84403. A viewing will be held at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. on Thursday, January 24th from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the service.
