Ruth Joyce Nowicki passed away peacefully on September 2, 2018, at the age of 86 at Healthwin in South Bend, IN. Ruth was born on August 3, 1932 in South Bend to Lee Roy Smith and Thelma Smith. After graduating from Riley High School, Ruth married Walter Valentine Nowicki, who predeceased her.

Ruth was a longtime employee of Sears, from which she retired several years ago. Ruth is survived by three children: son, Robert Daniel Nowicki of Chicago, IL; son-in-law, Bill Tiritilli of Chicago, IL; son, John Michael Nowicki of Belltower in Mishawaka, IN; daughter, Karen Kay (James) Burke of Granger, IN; one granddaughter, Kari Marie (Chris) James of South Bend, IN; and one great-grandson, Ethan Davis-Dhoore of Mishawaka, IN. A public viewing will be held for Ruth from 4:00-5:00pm on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Palmer Funeral Homes—Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park the following day. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ruth’s name may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.
