Sharon Lavone Butler, 84, of La Porte, passed away peacefully at 5 p.m., Saturday, April 28, 2018 in her home. She was born October 2, 1933, in La Porte, Indiana, to Gerhart and Frances (Seeger) Schoof. Sharon had worked at American Rubber, La Porte, for many years.

She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, La Porte. Sharon was very devoted to her family. On October 14, 1950, in La Porte, Indiana, she married Charles “Chuck” Butler, who preceded her in death.

Surviving are one son-in-law, Randy Shankle of Paducah, KY; three sisters, Shirley Purcell, Nancy Wegiel and Mary Smith all of La Porte; one brother, Danny Schoof of FL; one granddaughter, Cassie Hughes of Benton, Kentucky; one grandson, Joshua (Lindsey) Shankle of Draffenville, KY; three great grandchildren, Brayden Stewart, Mason Hughes and Hadlee Thompson; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 4, 2018 at Patton Cemetery, La Porte with Pastor Dennis Meyer officiating.

Cremation will take place. Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd. , La Porte, (219) 362-3100 is caring for the arrangements.
