SHIRLEY’s Obituary Shirley Mae Beshel Berkiel, 82 years old of Lake Villa, IL went home to be the Lord, Saturday, January 26th, 2019 at her home. She was born May 2nd, 1936 in Waukegan, IL the daughter of the late George and Roberta (Hook) Beshel. On April 15th, 1961 she married Albert Berkiel in Waukegan and he proceeded her in death, October 15, 2008.

Shirley and Al were long time residents of Antioch, IL before settling in Lake Villa 15 years ago. She was a dedicated member of Christian Life Fellowship in Antioch. Shirley was a devout follower of Jesus Christ and served as a missionary in her later years in several countries including Philippines, Myanmar, Israel, and China.

She was a member of Aglow International, formerly serving as President of her local chapter and spent two terms on the Chicago North Suburban Area Board. She was equally as dedicated to her family, often sacrificing her own needs above those of her children. Although she will be fiercely missed by those who’s lives she touched, comfort can be found in knowing she has received her eternal reward for her service to her family and her Lord.

Survivors include her children, Lori Berkiel of Crystal Lake, IL, Dan (Karolyn) Berkiel of Lake Villa, IL, and Linda (David) Tampa of Elm Grove, WI; two grandchildren, Calvin and Heather Tampa; siblings, Rosemary (Edwin) Huffhines and Robert (Jean) Beshel; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Albert Berkiel, Shirley was proceeded in death by her son, Dean Berkiel and brother, Harold “Bud” Beshel. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM on Thursday, January 31st, 2019 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME of Antioch, 1055 Main St. (Rte.

83), funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, February 1st, 2019 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Antioch, IL. INFO 847-395-4000.
