Obituary for Shirley Umphries O’Glee Shirley Umphries O’Glee Taylor, AR Funeral service for Mrs. Shirley Umphries O’Glee, age 82, will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, June 22, 2018, at the Forest Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Taylor, AR, with Bro. Joseph Stacks officiating and eulogy given by William Smith. Interment will follow in Forest Grove Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 21, 2018, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill. Mrs. O’Glee was born on January 19, 1936 to Johnnie Rufus and Lorene Russell Umphries in Taylor, AR and passed away on Monday, June 18, 2018 in Taylor, AR. She was a member of Landmark Baptist Church, Taylor, AR.

She graduated from Bradley High School in 1953 and went on to Norton Business School in Shreveport. She worked for First National Bank and Bancorpsouth in Taylor for 45 years. Her life revolved around her grandchildren and attending all of their extracurricular activities.

She was affectionately known as “MeMe”. She enjoyed traveling, dancing, antique shopping with Sherrie, making her special pancakes for Jennifer, sipping afternoon coffee with Jessica, evening talks with Trey, along with playing cards with her sister, LaNell and all of her friends. One of her life’s greatest pleasures was holding and playing with her great-grandchildren.

She loved opening her home for bridal teas, baby showers, and a host of other social events. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her daughter, Sherrie O’Glee Pickard and husband, Wade of Taylor; six grandchildren, Jennifer Daley and husband, Blake of Benton, AR, Jessica Snider and husband, Robert of Taylor, Trey Grappe and wife, Chelby of Taylor, Billy Pickard and wife, Brooke of Rison, AR, Nathan Pickard and wife, Brandi of Taylor, Mark Pickard and wife, Kaitlyn of Taylor; great-grandchildren, Victoria, Kennedy, Kati, and Ryan Daley, Bennett Snider, Birdee Grappe, Rowdy Taylor, Levi Pickard, Sadie, Willie, and Garrett Pickard, Kirby and Mogan Pickard; Aunt Gertie Nations of Taylor, AR; three sisters, LaNell Stuart of Springhill, LA, Virginia Nunnally of Hot Springs, AR, Mary Darden of Lexington, KY; brother, Johnnie Rhea Umphries and wife, Linda of Taylor; several nieces and nephews; and many cousins.

Mrs. O’Glee was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James David O’Glee; and a niece, Suzanne Knight. Pallbearers will be Eric Darden, Wayne McMahen, Stuart McMahen, Rick Young, Merrick Young, Scott Hoyle, Jack Hoyle and Joey Knight. Honorary pallbearers will be William Smith, Steve Nipper, Mike Waters, Jim Bland and Andy Goodwin.
